Business As Usual.....

Hello, reporting back from my usual spot in the study! Tommy and I arrived home last night a bit late because of the SNOW blasting Chicago again, but all in one piece! Very bumpy flight last night, and I particularly hate flying over Syracuse, NY, because both going there and back we experienced turbulence in that area, as well as flying over Canadian airspace. Then, of course, because of the snow hitting Chicago, we were stacked up in a holding pattern for about 45 minutes last night over Michigan. Hey, it's a learning experience, right? LOL

In any event, we had a great week with Julie and Scott, and saw so many things it's actually going to be hard to remember them all! Tommy and I did a Day of Walking on Thursday while Julie was at work, and visited the Museum of Fine Arts, where we saw the Titian, Tintoretto, and Veronese exhibit, which runs until August 16th. The MFA is adjacent to the Northeastern U campus, which was fun to see. (Scott says it's not a very good school, though, so I will take it off the list for Tom....hahaha) The Boston Conservatory of Music is there, and Tommy got a picture on his camera and sent it to Miss Kel. :)

We also stopped in for a tour of the Mother Church of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, which I, of course, found quite fascinating, but Tommy less so! I guess I really like the fact that the church was founded by a woman! :) And it also is based on the whole Healing Universe premise. Very forward-thinking for the turn of the last century, don't you think?

Friday, Julie, Tom, and I went to the Museum of Science, which had lots of hands-on displays and was also not too large that we couldn't see everything in several hours. :) It was raining cats and dogs when we left the museum, so we took the T home. Unfortunately, in the time we walked the four or five blocks from the T back to Julie and Scott's all three of us were soaked literally to the skin and resembled the proverbial Drowned Rats! Thank heavens for the lovely dryer which Julie made available to our things. :) Since it was still raining (actually lightning and thunder, too!) when Scott got home, we decided to stay in and cook pasta that night. Quite tasty!

Saturday Julie took the second part of her test to measure her punctuation and grammar skills, and when she finished up, it was off to NH and Maine! Not the warmest day, but there was some sun, and we stopped for lunch in Newburyport, MA, at a great little Mexican restaurant. Tommy had a lovely burrito filled with rice, beans, and tofu, and I had a cup of vegan chili. It was not a strictly vegetarian place, though, because Julie and Scott both had some sort of meat filling in their tacos and burritos. :) Yesterday we also stopped at a Mexican place while out walking around the North End and Beacon Hill area, and Tom once again was able to have his rice and beans.

We did drive all the way to Kennebunkport in Maine on Saturday, which is a lovely area, as well as Ogonquit, Wells, and Kittery. I think that I still have some sand in my shoes from our little stroll (VERY short) on the beach. :) We walked around a bit in Kennebunkport and found a nice red polo shirt for Blingdaddy. (It has a lobster on it, of course!)

Saturday night we walked to a wonderful restaurant called Summer Shack, and Scott had his lobster dinner that he'd been thinking of all day! LOL I had a delish Cobb Salad which included some Maine crab, and Julie had bluefish. Tom had some yummy brown rice, which was flavored with olive oil (!) and some garlic. All in all, a wonderful day!

Sunday we walked the North End and strolled past The Garden, where the Celtics play. Tom snapped a few pictures, of course. I definitely got my walking miles in this week! :) YAY! And I was planning on getting outside again this week, but I think that I shall wait until the snow is gone!

Of course, the week flew past much too quickly, and Tommy is back in school today. Even though the flight home was not quite what I would have wished, I can't wait to go back again. What a neat place, and what great company! :)

I chatted with Aimee for a bit this morning, and she, Matt, and Paytie had a great time at Kate's concert in Rockford yesterday afternoon! Did you all know that Aimee and the gang will be visiting with Scott and Julie in Boston over the Memorial Day weekend? Well, if you didn't know before, you know now!

And Miss Kel will be coming home next weekend for Easter. :) I think that the following weekend is the Mom's Day weekend at U of I, so Kristie's mom and I will be driving there on Saturday and staying overnight till Sunday! Gosh, so much action I can hardly stand it! hahaha

Please think of Grandma M today as she is right now having cataract surgery on an outpatient basis. Auntie Renee is with her. :)
