Fleepin Friday

Yay! TGIF! Kelly arrives home in six hours! It's the start of Spring Break for some of us today. Of course, most of Miss Kel's Spring Break will be taken up with observing at GHS, but there is the small fact of her 21st birthday on Monday to be reckoned with! Guess that maybe Sunday all of the Chicago area "peeps" are invited for some sort of lunch/dinner somewhere.....BlingDaddy appears to be in the throes of a bad cold, so who knows what will be happening?????? I sure am hoping that Kelly doesn't come home to catch it.

Last night I had dinner with my old school friends Debbie and Mary. I finally learned what Debbie's boss does - well, some of what he does. He has his fingers in LOTS of pies. But part of the pie is that he owns the largest security firm in Australia and New Zealand. When he lived in Florida, his next door neighbor was Celine Dion.....heavens!

And I've been in contact with my cousin Susan in Florida and learned that she works for an amazing builder there - I looked at the company website on the 'net, and couldn't believe the estates this man has built. Lots of interesting stuff out there.

But getting back to Debbie and Mary, we had a fun night of Mexican food, and Mary once again suggested a "road trip" for the three of us. Wouldn't that be fun? A long weekend or something. We'll have to see what she can come up with that's cheap. LOL

I talked with Grandma Lois today, and she thinks that the doctor she saw yesterday regarding her back was really good. Aunt Corinne went with her, and also liked the guy and thought he had valid things to say. He did tell Grandma that if she'd had physical therapy back when this first started six months ago, it would probably have helped her greatly and erased the need for surgical intervention. She's trying therapy now, starting next week, but the doctor said he didn't think it would really help her, which to me means that it won't do her any good, since going into it with the thought that it won't help at all isn't all that encouraging. However, if and when she does have the surgery, I guess it has an 85% success rate, and it is not too horribly invasive.

Oh, and Grandma also said that when she was at the dermatologist the other day she had some biopsies done of three red spots on her body: I think two on her face and one on her back. She is going to have to have two of them scraped and burned off in April. The nurse told her they were melanomas, but not very deep. I was kind of surprised about the casual attitude if, indeed, they were melanoma......I questioned her several times about the designation "melanoma", and she was quite positive that's what the nurse told her. I think it's odd that they're waiting till April to get them off, but that's just me.....

Oh, well, sometimes things are garbled in the translation.
