Yesterday BlingDaddy had a very long doctor's appointment and finally was validated! The Xrays taken showed two breaks in the right-side ribs, one of them quite "separated". Doc actually prescribed Vicodin for the pain, which we forgot to get filled last night. The crazy thing is that I remembered this morning that I have a bottle of that sitting in the cabinet from last winter when I had my lovely kidney stone......aargh! Not that I would EVER give something prescribed to me to someone else......not that I often even HAVE a prescription for myself! LOL
Another thing the doctor said was that the pneumonia was actually worse than it was last week, which BlingDaddy doesn't really agree with - he is not wheezing like he was last week. Oh, well, in any event, at least he now knows he's not crazy for feeling ribs moving and crackling! He did go back to work today - doctor said the pneumonia was not contagious at this point.....hopefully he won't have too hard a time sitting at his desk today. Oh, one more thing the doctor said - as long as BlingDaddy is taking the prednisone, the ribs won't heal.....guess there's a bit of prednisone-free time in BlingDaddy's future......
The drive to Urbana on Sunday was very nice - the most beautiful weather! And I guess we are still going to be blessed with beautiful weather today and tomorrow as well. Last night I didn't even need my hoodie on my walk!
But back to Urbana - Brent had already left to drive back to Auggie by the time I got there, but Kate was still around, so she, Kelly, and I went out for Chinese for lunch. Kate did have to drive back home after lunch, so I sat around before the concert in the coffee shop in Krannert, where I ran into Frank Modica (from Piper Elementary school) - he works as a volunteer usher at Krannert occasionally. I was horrified at how OLD he looked. I guess I horrify people, too, who knew me in my days of youth. Yikes! Anyway, Frank looked like a little gnome to me.....a gnome with an earring! I never would have guessed Frank for the diamond stud earring type. Actually, it probably was not really a diamond, but, still! Weird!
Chatting with Frank made me appreciate how VERY lucky I am to have the wonderful offspring I have! His kids are kind of messed up, it seems......oh, well.
Kelly's concert was wonderful, but very LOOOOOONG! It was dark when we came out of Krannert, of course, since we now seem to be living near the Arctic Circle in terms of the amount of daylight we see each day! I dropped her off at her sorority meeting and headed on home.....OH! Nearly forgot to mention the fantastic gas prices in Urbana! I filled up for $2.15! Yes, your eyes are not deceiving you! Two dollars and fifteen cents. Why are we still paying two fifty-something here in the Chicago area?
I am sitting her listening to Pink's Funhouse. I LIKE it. Jean would probably poop if she knew Alene and Kiersten were listening to music that had "parental advisory" on the cover.....oops! OMG, she just sang the "F" word.......there are actually some pretty ballads on this.....and the Jessica Simpson country album is pretty good. I think she's much better as a country singer than pop!
Speaking of Jess, the other day I heard a song by her and then Nick played back-to-back. Kind of sad. I definitely prefer happy endings to sad. :)
BTW, Tommy set up an IM name for me recently, and last night Kelly and I were typing away - pretty funny when even Tommy chimed in from his bedroom upstairs, now that he has that hundred dollar laptop that BlingDaddy brought home from work! So please feel free to IM if you'd like: granniejannie5
Alene just knocked her sister down and made her cry....oops. She ran right out of the room after doing that! See, Miss A., even the Perfect Child has a bit of the Divil in her! LOL
Tommy is finding that being on the basketball team is a bit time-consuming! Practice every day till 5:20! First game next week - I believe they play Edison, Hubble, and Franklin! Too funny.
Talking with Miss Jules yesterday - she said she was going to try to stay for a bit longer at Christmas than usual - maybe even a whole WEEK!!!!!! Are you all as excited about that as I am? Sure hope that it works out that she actually CAN! :)
