Nearing Fall

Well, I have totally ignored my poor blog for more than a month....must remedy that, musn't I?  Hard to believe that my trip to Nantucket is in the past, Tom has begun his Junior year of high school, Kelly is in her second year of teaching, Kate is teaching fourth grade this year, Brent has a new position with Krystal Kleen (oops, did I mis-spell that?), Matt has moved to St. Charles, and Aimee, Matt, Paytie and Josie are on vacation in the Barrier Islands of North Carolina!  Whew!  I know that I forgot a few things, like Tom's summer camp for Marching Band and his two Marching Band performances at the football games for GHS this year already, Blingdaddy's MRI and CAT scans last week, and the upcoming doctor's visit to find out the results of those scans......oh, yes, some things I wish I didn't have to report on, but that's life and so I must.

Grandma M has just returned (along with Auntie Renee) from a weekend quickie to Boston and environs.  She stayed with Julie for several nights and with Auntie for one (or was it the reverse - Julie for one night and Auntie for two?.....wish my brain was functioning on all cylinders, but, alas, it doesn't seem to be doing that).  Julie reports that Hunter enjoyed having Grandma M read to him.  How cute.  Both Grandma and Auntie report that Ashley hates them and our family, but especially Grandma.  Gosh, she hasn't known her long enough for that, has she?  LOL  Oh, well, glad they are about a thousand miles away from us if that's the way THAT cookie crumbles.

Had a long chat with Aimee today, and she and Matt just love the cottage they are staying in.  It looked darling in the photos I saw, and Aimee said it's every bit as charming in person.  They are having a wonderful time, but wish that a few of the rest of us were with them to enjoy the sights as well.  :)  Maybe next time!  Aimee also reported that the wedding pics she took on Saturday in Zion turned out amazing, and she's very excited to have them to add to her growing portfolio.  :)

We had a nice long weekend (well, some of us had a nice weekend, and someone else had something happen that she'd rather have not had happen....)...did you follow all of that?  Tom's friend Katie had a run-in with her car door on Saturday when she, Tom, and Eric were together - she somehow managed to hit her face on the car door, and had to have three stitches in her cheek. Yikes!  She looked pretty good today, though, so that is a blessing.  She told me that she's kind of accident prone, and is hoping that this incident is 'it' for a while.....gee, should I be worried about Tom being a passenger in her car?

Yesterday morning, Blingdaddy and I had a yummy breakfast with Kate and Brent at Gabby's on North Avenue - delish omelettes and skillets.  Looking forward to going back one of these days.  Kate and Brent hosted a nice BBQ last night for Kelly and Matt.  Tom, Blingdaddy, and I stopped by for a few minutes on the way home from Sergio's, but the bugs were killing us, and we beat a hasty retreat.

Kelly is mostly moved out, but still has a few things to come by for.  Tom is missing her (he said it was boring at home today with Kelly gone), BUT he also has big plans for her room......I am afraid that it is going to be repainted into a less 'girl' color soon.  Boo hoo!  I am now outnumbered here!  More testosterone in the house than anything.......HELP!

It's been quite fun seeing Tom with the marching band, and although he is enjoying it, he is also getting tired of the mosquito bites and has begged me to douse him with OFF, something I have yet to do....he swears it will not kill him, but I'm not so sure.....

I had a fun time last weekend at Stitches Midwest with Tami - she and I walked around for hours and hours and hours, but were pretty restrained when it came to purchasing anything.  :)  I did get my swift so that I no longer have to dance around a kitchen chair to wind a ball of yarn, and I found some neat patterns that had to come home with me.

Speaking of knitting, I am working on a lovely small shawl that is calling my name.  Sayonara!

Oh, crap!  The edit eraser is gone again!!!!!!  GRRRRRR!!!
