But speaking of trips, Blingdaddy and I were tossing around the idea of getting away somewhere the week between Christmas and New Year....guess it will probably not work out, though. Nice to dream about, though. LOL
It's officially COLD now......phooey. I was loving that Indian Summer (sorry about the lack of political correctness there, but that's the 'old' name for that season).
Aimee shared the great news that Matt received "A"s in both his classes from last semester! Way to go, Matt!!!!! Only two more classes left to take before the new degree! Aimee teased me the other day that none of MY children have advanced degrees, but two sons-in-law soon will...Yikes! Get going, there, KIDDIES!!!! Just kidding, of course. I know that eventually a few of you will forge ahead for some sort of something-or-other! LOL
Alene and Kiersten just left. I was commiserating with Jean (with Alene safely out of earshot) over the teacher that Alene got saddled with this year. Jean said that Miss Hankes graduated from NIU in 2007 and is planning her wedding. Still, no excuse for being so cold to her students. I was not impressed with her from when Jean told me about their first meeting. It's too bad that Jean gets to find out what it's like to deal with a less-than-wonderful teacher right off the bat. (Although she did have a wonderful experience with Alene's preschool teacher, Patty Mullins.)
Julie said that she and Scott found a crib and dresser last week, and also some cute bedding. It features elephants, and is blue and green. Baby Kauffman is making his presence known to Mama already with little kicks. I am jealous. I well remember the feeling and wouldn't mind doing it again.......maybe I should look into all that crazy in vitro stuff, huh? hahahaha Are you scared yet?
Well, I finally did it. I took a tumble last night walking. I knew it was just a matter of time, but now I know that I can fall and not break anything! Yay! I have a skinned knee, a bruised shoulder, and a tender cheekbone. At first I thought I was going to be able to catch myself, but then I realized that I was going down. I was really peeved with myself when my face hit the asphalt, and glad that no one was there to witness the indignity of it all. (At least no one I saw....who knows who was looking out their window at me?) In any event, I decided to continue on (I was still on our block when it happened), and no one would even know anything happened, because luckily my face really was hardly skinned at all. :) Rubber Mom!!!! That's me! I debated upon not saying anything, but then I thought that maybe if I start acting crazier this could be the explanation and I wanted someone to know about it! haha
Tom continues on with his guitar infatuation. That child does not go a day without playing now. Imagine what he could do if he were that interested in his schoolwork!!!!! Actually, I think he's doing pretty decent work at school, too. The past few times he's had math quizzes he seems to have received the highest score in the class. Woohoo, Tommy Boy! (Not that he reads this, but still.....)
Kelly is excited. Matt told her that she's going to receive something from him in the mail tomorrow. What CAN it be? In any event, she couldn't wait to share the news, so I am sure that everyone will find out what it is tomorrow. (If it does, indeed, arrive tomorrow......one never knows about the US Postal service, does one?)
Tom and Kelly are out right now -oops - spoke too soon - there's the garage door right now. They went Merry Shopping together....Tom has buzzed through yet ANOTHER set of iPod earphones (I think this is his third or fourth set since he received the thing), and Kelly needed to put gas in the beetle. That sucker just downs gas driving out to Sycamore every day.....good that there are less than THREE WEEKS left of student teaching!!! Crazy.
Kelly is humming. That's a good sign. Tom has put the change from the headphones in his Guitar Fund. Did you all know that he now has a Guitar Fund? Blingdaddy suggested that he start putting all cash he comes across into such Fund until such time that he accrues enough to purchase the John Mayer guitar he is lusting after.......dear God, my son is not lusting after girls, but guitars....does that make him a guiterosexual? Okay, I guess you had to be there.
Time to go nuke something for dinner. Hasta la vista, amigos!
