Nearly 36 Years!!!

Well, another 4th is behind us - hard to believe......Kelly, Tommy, and I drove around Batavia looking at the fireworks from the convertible on Saturday night - VERY fun. :) There is just something sooooo cool about seeing the fireworks exploding right above your heads!

Blingdaddy and I spent many hours over the weekend removing wallpaper - still not finished - it comes off VEEERY slowly, in VEEERY small pieces, but soon it will all be just a bad memory. We currently have a swatch - a very large swatch - of color on the bathroom wall to see if we like the color. Blingdaddy is thinking it is a tad dark, but I'm liking it. We shall see. When first applied, the color truly resembled something you wipe off a baby's nether regions, but dried, well, the look is more like coffee with cream......a MUCH yummier mental image, don't you think? :)

Another fun project this weekend was removing the nasty finish from the floor of the downstairs bath. Blingdaddy donned the rubber gloves and sponged some sort of chemical onto the floor, then sponged it off. Now the floor is (nearly) in its original state - except for where the contractor ground the hell out of it right at the door and it's flat and nasty. Oh, well. At least it's not "tacky" anymore - seriously, the finish Rich applied NEVER fully dried and was sticky for weeks. What a ding-dong. Okay, I'm done calling him names. Let's just say that we will not recommend him to anyone we LIKE! LOLOLOL

Yesterday afternoon/evening we had a small barbeque with Carlos, Olga, Carlos' brother, and a friend of Carlos named Bill Sullivan. Turns out Bill grew up in Oak Park, both of his parents were attorneys, and he knew grandpa Rene. Very small world. Again.

Blingdaddy fired up the grill for the first time - worked like a charm. He charred some brats, and we had potato salad, macaroni salad (typical heart-attack foods) and a delicious fruit salad. :) Oh, and pickles, olives, and Boca burgers for Kelly and Tom. Olga brought some sort of Mexican cake that had a base of chocolate and a layer of flan, topped with fresh strawberries. Sounds good, but I only ate a forkfull to be polite. If anyone would like it, the remainder is sitting in the refrigerator in the garage..... :)

This morning, Megan from next door is over - Patty's usual babysitting arrangements fell through for today, and I offered to have her come here. So far, so good. I was afraid, since Megan is not exactly the world's easiest child to get along with, but there have been no dust-ups yet, and soon she is going to be picked up by another neighbor and taken to a water park, so I'm nearly home free! hahaha

Tomorrow Blingdaddy and I will have our 36th wedding anniversary. Can you believe that come August 1st, we will have known one another for FORTY YEARS?????? This number has me astounded, since, of course, I feel nowhere NEAR old enough to have known him for forty years......mind boggling. But since dearest Oldest Child will turn 30 this year, I guess it's not all that hard to believe. LOLOL
