Last weekend we had a fun few hours visiting with Julie and Scott on Sunday. They had attended a wedding in Zion and were killing time before their flight to Boston, so we met up at a Barnes & Noble on Golf Road in Shaumburg. Tom, Blingdaddy and I drove them to Woodfield Mall, where Aimee and Payton joined us, Matt being in Indianapolis for the weekend visiting his parents and attending The Game, and Kate being at Auggie for NATS and a concert for Brent.
The seven of us walked around for a bit, goggling at the shoes and boots at Nordstrom's for a while, and then were joined by Julie's friend Karen as well. We wandered around the stores, looking at jewelry and such, and also stopped in at Jessica McClintock, where Aimee tried on some "bridesmaid" dresses, none of which really rang anyone's chimes.....There was a very tall bride trying on dresses when we were there, and she did look quite lovely in a few of the frocks, but on the whole, the dresses there looked quite cheap and nothing that would suit our dear JuJuBee's taste! LOL Payton had fun hiding among all of the dresses, and Scott stood around looking quite uncomfortable. (He was joined in this by Tom.....however, Blingdaddy was in fine fettle, taking dresses off the rack and making sugggestions to Julie.......)
After traipsing around the mall for a bit, we all decamped for Champs, a sports bar on Golf Road where The Game was going to be televised. How crazy that Aimee would be with a guy who is a rabid Colts fan, and Julie would be with a guy who is a rabid Patriots fan!!!!! Girls, you know that it's EASIER if you just stick with a guy from Chicago who is a Bears fan!!!! Okay, just kidding. Obviously, there WERE no guys from Chicago good enough for our lovely lasses.
In any event, we had some yummy appetizers, followed by various pasta dishes, burgers, and fries, and commenced to watch the football game between the Colts and the Patriots. Unfortunately, the news was going to be bad for ONE of the girls' beaus, and it turned out that Matt's team did not quite pull off the victory, so I guess that this weekend when Aimee, Matt, and Paytie are visiting Scott and Julie in Boston (they are leaving tonight, as a matter of fact) Matt will be forced to don the jersey of his nemesis team, The Patriots. Had Matt's Colts been victorious, Scott would have been wearing one of their jerseys this weekend. Maybe next time, Matt! :)
After our dinner and the end of the game, Aimee carted Julie and Scott off to O'Hare for their flight home. When Blingdaddy, Tom, and I arrived home, we found that our lovely Kathryn was visiting us! She had stopped by on her way home from Auggie, where she had a nice weekend with Brent. Brent made it to semifinals in NATS, which was his goal. Kate also ran into her former voice teacher, Sherry Kocek, who is now Sherry-something-else, as she is married now to someone new. Her younger daughter is a junior at U of I, milling around with Kelly somewhere, and her older daughter is now at law school at Loyola. Wow - what a combo - the daughter's bachelor's degree was in engineering. She's going to be able to write her own ticket, I think, when she is looking for a job after graduation!
In any event, it was nice to spend a few hours with Miss Kaykay. :) We are looking forward to her concert on Sunday, and will be driving there with Grandma Marian, since she wants to see Kate perform as well, and it makes absolutely no sense for all of us to drive into the city separately, what with the recent increase in our GAS prices AGAIN! Grrrrr.....
Last night Tom had a band concert. It was a bit of a feat getting there on time and managing to pick up Blingdaddy at the train station, but with Aimee's help, it was all arranged. Blingdaddy even managed to arrive before everything started, and we both listened to Tom's group play - they did a rather good job! But I had to take Tom there early, and didn't know if Blingdaddy would be able to make it, so I brought along a book to read, of course! So there I was sitting there, engrossed in my mystery, when I feel the hair on the back of my head move. I figured that someone was passing by behind me, no big deal. Happens all the time at concerts, right? Then my hair moved again. This time I thought, okay, there's a little kid behind me......I sneak a peak behind me and out of the corner of my eye I realize that there is a MAN sitting behind me. So what do I think? I think, "eeeeeeewwwww, some pervert is touching my hair......" Then I take another glance and realize that it is my very OWN pervert, Blingdaddy, who had snuck in without my knowledge and was trying valiantly to get my attention.....:)
And thus ends another chapter in the ongoing story of Blingmama, Blingdaddy, and their precious offspring.
